I’m sitting at my desk, looking at my Thailand flag and I cannot believe that it’s only 20 days until….everything. 20 days until I say goodbye for now to my friends and family. 20 days until my parents drive me to Chicago and I get on a plane headed to Asia. It’s so overwhelming and close and frightening. But in the same moment, it’s been a long time coming. I first applied to CMF (Christian Missionary Fellowship) Globalscope on March 31, 2016. I was accepted May 19, 2016. It sounds like such a lengthy amount of time, but it’s passed in the blink of an eye.
When I first applied, my mother was aghast that my first choice was Thailand. To make her feel better, my other two choices were Mexico and Australia. But I knew that I wouldn’t be going there. I knew that I would be going to Thailand because Thailand wasn’t my choice, it was God’s.
Phil Tatum first came to the Christian Campus House (the church I attend in Muncie) to speak to us about CMF in the spring semester of 2016. When he spoke, my attention was drawn to him and didn’t waver for a moment. That night in my dorm room, I prayed and asked God to show me if he wanted me to travel with CMF to one of these countries. And he did. I kept seeing CMF everywhere I went; the flyers on my desk, the conversations of people at CCH, everywhere. So I asked him to show me where he wanted me to go. I was secretly hoping for Scotland; I mean, it’s Scotland. But a while later, Becca Schafer came to CCH to visit with us. She runs a foster house in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She was extremely passionate about her work and about Thailand; as I was listening, God caught my attention and said “Here. I want you to go here.” So, He called me to Thailand.
It’s 20 days until God’s destination for me comes into view. Well, more like 21. After all, it’s an entire day of traveling!
If you’d like to help support me, I would absolutely love (and need!) your prayers! We’re going to be reaching out to campus students in Bangkok, so any prayers for me and my team would be marvelous. I also am still in the works of raising funds. So, if you feel called to give, you can follow this link and give whatever you can. Thank you so much for reading this post and all your support!
